Eco Gin being poured into a glass with lemon and ice

From Pea to Gin: How Eco Gin is made

In a world where more people are making eco conscious choices, what you drink matters. The spirit industry is saturated with products that are bad for the environment, we wanted to change that. Moving away from the traditional grains used to produce gin, we introduced the humble pea to equation to create a sustainable alternative.

Peas are more important than you might first think. The mighty pea is actually able to naturally fix nitrogen from the atmosphere, unlike traditional grains such as rye or barley that rely on synthetic N-fertilisers. This is important, because not only do these fertilisers require a large amount of energy to produce, but they also produce nitrous oxide, a gas 300x more powerful than carbon dioxide. Furthermore, synthetic n-fertilisers damage soil health and runoff into waterways. By using peas, we avoid soil acidification and promote biodiversity.

Choosing eco-friendly gin doesn’t mean compromising on taste. Our craft gin process includes careful selection of fresh botanicals to flavour our spirit, including juniper, orange and coriander seed. The product is a sustainable gin, which tastes great with tonic and a slice of orange or lemon and a sunny day, perfect timing! Support a better way of doing things with Eco Gin, one sip at a time.
