Our Impact

At Eco Gin, we are determined to become the most sustainable spirit. Unlike most gins, that are fermented from grains such as barley and rye, Eco Gin uses peas. By using peas, Eco Gin embodies sustainability with the following impacts.

OUR IMPACT

Low-impact crop

Unlike traditional gin-making grains such as barley or rye, peas naturally fix nitrogen from the atmosphere — eliminating the need for synthetic N-fertilisers. By eliminating synthetic N-fertilisers, Eco Gin has a lower carbon footprint than traditional gin.

OUR IMPACT

Cleaner soils & waterways

As well as reducing carbon dioxide emissions, avoiding artificial nitrogen reduces soil acidification and fertiliser runoff into rivers. Peas restore soil health and promote biodiversity.

Our impact

Circular Economy

Our fermentation by-products and used botanicals are repurposed into organic fertiliser and returned to Four Acre Farm, local to our distillery and birth place of Eco Gin. This closes the nutrient loop and minimises our waste.

After fermentation, our pea-based alcohol is gently flavoured with a beautiful blend of botanicals to give a premium tasting gin. Buying Eco Gin isn't just supporting sustainability and premium gin tasting today, it is supporting our desire to transform the alcohol industry and leverage different areas of agriculture into a range of sustainable products.
